About the Stop the Stigma Campaign

The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation and the Addiction Policy Forum, together with Toni and Christopher Cornell, launched a national advocacy and education campaign"Stop the Stigma: Tackling the Stigma of Addiction through Education.”

The "Stop the Stigma" initiative will include national education and awareness components along with grassroots workshops and trainings to the public and key audiences.

“The stigma of addiction too often discourages individuals and families from getting the help they need," said Jessica Hulsey, Founder of the Addiction Policy Forum. "This initiative will help expand education around addiction, debunk the myths and misinformation and lead with evidence, not bias."

"My dad’s death was completely preventable. We need to stop the stigma that does not allow us to see that this is a disease and a mental health disorder, not a moral flaw. The former perspective saves lives, the latter ends them," shared Toni Cornell.

“I know Chris is with us in this journey, wrapping us tightly in his embrace, and I won't rest until every American understands that addiction is a treatable medical condition," added Vicky Cornell. "We are committed to stopping discrimination against individuals with SUD and getting them they resources they need."
